FAQ

What does "CEREC" mean?

CEREC is an acronym that stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics or CEramic REConstruction.

What are the benefits of CEREC teeth crowns?

CEREC teeth crowns offer all the benefits of safe, biocompatible porcelain crowns but without the wait and without the often uncomfortable temporary crown.

Are the crowns durable?

Yes. CEREC crowns are made with advanced dental materials that hold up to heavy wear.

Are they strong enough to be used on back teeth?

Yes. CEREC crowns can be used on any tooth.

What are some of the uses of CEREC teeth crowns?

CEREC teeth crowns are ideal for restoration of teeth that have been severely damaged on the surface but still have an intact root.

We use state of the art CEREC crowns with a number of our procedures, including root canals (endodontic treatment), full mouth reconstruction, and dental implant procedures.

Can CEREC be used for making inlays and onlays?

 Yes.

Can CEREC be used for bridges?

 Yes.

Will CEREC restoration look and feel just like other teeth?

Yes. Your CEREC restoration will be shaped and colored to perfectly match your natural teeth. You can brush and floss your CEREC restoration just as you do your other teeth.

What is the difference between CEREC and traditional porcelain crowns?

CEREC is an amazing new process that allows us to restore and repair teeth in just one visit. CEREC uses strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials, which are created by the CEREC milling unit in our office.

What will happen during my appointment?

First, your teeth are coated with a safe, tasteless powder. A 3D camera is used to scan your teeth using computer imagery. That information is transferred to a special machine in our office, which creates the ceramic piece on the spot.

Why Choose CEREC?

There are many advantages of CEREC over traditional crown technology:

Time: CEREC crowns are made in one visit, saving you considerable time away from your job and family.

Comfort: With CEREC, there is no need for a temporary crown, which eliminates significant potential discomfort.

Aesthetics: The strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials of CEREC restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function and closely match the composition of natural tooth structure.

Strength: Milled ceramic is stronger than the traditional method of layering and pressing, so your smile will stay beautiful for years!

Fillings: CEREC material and technology can also be used for fillings. Since they are made out of porcelain, they are more durable than white composite fillings.

How many CEREC restorations have been done?

Over  25 000 000 CEREC restorations have been placed worldwide. The number continues to increase.
